As the cold weather approaches, pool owners are closing their pools. Winter covers are great for keeping leaves and debris out of the water but some maintenance is needed to maintain the integrity of the cover.
A cover is great for preventing debris from getting into the water but the debris will of course then be on the cover itself. So removing as much debris as possible each day will assist in preventing tears, wearing and the cover falling into the pool. An air pillow under the cover prevents pressure from water from building up. If there is too much water on the cover and it freezes, there is a possibility of pressure generating which can damage both the cover and the pool.
A pool cover pump is a great investment to assist in removing headaches in draining the water off and does so so much more efficiently than other methods. Not every ounce has to be removed, but enough to prevent a possible collapse. There isn’t much to maintaining a clean cover; it’s primarily a game of repetition.
